Jones urges insurers not to give in over speculative claims

Insurers give in too easily and pay up too readily to liabilityclaims, said Digby Jones, director general of the Confederation of British
Industry.
Mr Jones urged insurers at the Association of British Insurers annual
conference to have "more steel in the spine" and refuse to pay speculative
claims, even if it costs them more to do so in the short term.
He said: "We have to get the lawyers to understand that speculative claims
will be destructive in the end."
He continued: "Legitimate businesses
