Keith Satchell, group chief executive of Friends Provident, has been appointed chairman of the Association of British Insurers. He takes over from Richard Harvey of Aviva, who has completed his two-year term. Andrew Palmer, group finance director of Legal & General, succeeds Satchell as chairman of the ABI's Financial Regulation and Taxation Committee.

ABI records 3% home premiums rise in Q1

Average home insurance premiums for buildings and contents cover rose by 3% to £375 in the first quarter of this year, pushing the year-on-year rise up to 19%, according to the Association of British Insurers.
