Centrica, the owner of The AA, has confirmed that it is in early talks to sell the breakdown association in a deal estimated at £1.5bn.
Centrica, which was once part of the state owned gas industry, now supplies electricity to residential and business customers as well as gas products and telecoms services. The company declined to comment on the identity of the potential bidders and said that a statement would be made in due course 'if appropriate'.
