A little acknowledged FCA discussion paper could have wider implications for the whole general insurance market, says Mike Cranny

Two months ago the FCA issued a “discussion paper” DP15/4 which at first glance appears to deal with general insurance (GI) add-ons. This attracted little attention at the time.

This paper however it isn’t just about add-ons – far from it. It is about practically all personal lines insurance. Why that is not made clear in neither the title nor the management summary I really don’t know.

The discussion paper is about how to help customers assess value for money and how to shine a light on
