The recent licensing in Gibraltar of another insurer with £100m gross written premium - Link Insurance Company - has further established the island's presence on the world insurance map. But why are insurers such as Link moving to Gibraltar? And what is it that makes it such an attractive alternative to the London market?

Experts on jurisdictional matters will cite solvency as the sole consideration.

They're right to include it on the list, but there are many other reasons equally - if not more -
