Aviva, RSA and Allianz revealed as BBC insurers during Savile era

Aviva, RSA and Allianz were the BBC's primary insurers during the 40 years alleged sex offender Jimmy Savile worked for the broadcaster.

Sister title Post has revealed that the trio could face sexual abuse claims of up to £30m.

A Freedom of Information request found that the insurers were among the lead risk carriers for either employers' or public liability for the broadcaster between 1971 and 2006.

According to a public police report, Giving Victims a Voice, some 600 people have come forward to provide information since the beginning of police investigation Operation Yewtree, with about 450 cases referring to Savile.

ABI records 3% home premiums rise in Q1

Average home insurance premiums for buildings and contents cover rose by 3% to £375 in the first quarter of this year, pushing the year-on-year rise up to 19%, according to the Association of British Insurers.
