Insurers named and shamed by FOS

The UK's largest personal lines insurer - which includes the likes of Direct Line and Churchill - saw 1,541 cases referred to the financial watchdog in the six month period from 1 January to 30 June 2012.

The figure, which excluded payment protection insurance complaints, was not broken down by individual companies within the group.

In second place for general insurance non-PPI complaints was Axa Insurance UK which saw 557 cases referred during the same period.

Aviva Insurance completed the top
