Aviva may cut 800 jobs

Aviva may cut 800 jobs across its life and general insurance units by the end of the year.

The insurance giant had previously announced plans to remove layers of management in a new structure and recently reported a group loss of £681m for the first half of 2012.

At the time of the results Mr Spencer told Insurance Age that the provider's ambition was "to make sure that we are increasing the number of staff that are broker and customer facing and not back office," but declined to give a figure on the potential losses.

Broking profits fall at Saga

Underlying profit before tax in Saga’s insurance broking arm fell to £39.8m for the year ended 31 January 2024, compared with £71.5m in the previous period.
