Groupama defends “immediate” notification Toba changes

Groupama has defended the changes to its terms of business agreements (Toba), issued to brokers on 20 September, which require brokers to inform the insurer immediately about fault claims.

The insurer stated the change, effective 1 November, was designed to prevent policyholder or third party information being passed to other organisations or being used for financial gain.

Groupama insisted the wording had been verified with the British Insurance Brokers' Association (Biba) at a meeting earlier this year.

The change is the latest in a series of Toba amendments from insurers including Ageas, Zurich, Aviva and Markerstudy with the latter giving brokers one hour to inform them of
