PMI provider claims data sharing first
Universal Provident has claimed to be the first provider to disclose claims information on private medical insurance (PMI).
The provider said it paid 85.6% of claims submitted over the period 1st January 2010 - 30th April 2011, with a further 2.6% being paid in part.
In terms of only those claims not fully paid the most common reason was failure to follow general policy conditions at 44.3%. This was followed by the source of claim being a chronic condition at 17.7%.
Other reasons for rejecting the claim were due to it being subject to a pre-existing condition/moratorium (7.6%), being a ‘routine' examination (7.6%) or
