Ageas to be grilled by IIB over Toba changes

The Institute of Insurance Brokers (IIB) is to hold discussions with Ageas in response to member complaints over recent amendments the insurer has made to its terms of business agreements (Tobas).

Ageas has faced claims that the amendments were put in place to help it control claims and prevent them leaking to claims management companies and legal firms.

An IIB bulletin to members reads as follows: “We have heard from a number of our members concerning the Ageas Toba recently issued to brokers. The main area of concern is Clause 2.9 which could prevent the broker from referring claimants to outside claims handling services and require the broker to refer all third party claimants to Ageas
