Private medical insurers (PMI) have been accused of threatening to cut off brokers that “rock the boat” over the issue of claims data transparency.

Speaking at an Insurance Age PMI roundtable, Glen Smith, managing director of Healthcare Partners and chairman of British Insurance Brokers' Association (Biba) healthcare focus group slammed this practice as "disgusting and immoral".

Stuart Scullion,MDof Private Health Partnership, said: "That doesn't mean to say there hasn't been some evidence of threatening behaviour with some of those players in terms of if you rock the boat then you are doing so in terms of your own agency."
