Travel insurance fraudster sentenced

A travel insurance fraudster, accused of making £40,000 worth of claims affecting eight insurance companies over five years, has been sentenced.

Following initial identification by Cunningham Lindsey’s travel claims handling service, claims international, the company’s complex technical services unit traced connections between a host of small claims made over a five-year period by one person, worth £40,000 and affecting eight different insurance companies, including Fortis.

Shaun Taylor, from Leeds, received a six months’ suspended prison sentence plus a supervision order and community service after pleading guilty at the city’s Crown
