Irish Government reassures FSA over Quinn funding

The Irish Government has written to the Financial Services Authority (FSA) to assure it that any funding needs which emerge at Quinn Insurance’s business there will be met.

According to the Irish title, The Sunday Business, the Irish Government insists the Department of Finance will make "appropriate funding available to assist the administrators perform their role in bringing the company back to a sound commercial and financial footing".

It has also given commitments that Quinn Insurance will no longer use certain lines as 'loss-leaders' to attract business, the Sunday Business continues.

It also reports that as part of the plan to restart more business in Britain

ABI records 3% home premiums rise in Q1

Average home insurance premiums for buildings and contents cover rose by 3% to £375 in the first quarter of this year, pushing the year-on-year rise up to 19%, according to the Association of British Insurers.
