Axa has stated that brokers should not be too concerned about the direct channel as it is not the "great growing beast that everyone thinks it is".
In the insurer's opinion brokers, new-breed intermediaries and affinity groups, as well as strong brands like retailers are all making growth for the direct players hard. The insurers said an example of this was the significant growth Axa had seen in its non-motor lines of business as brokers develop away from predominantly selling motor.
