Eric Galbraith, chief executive of the British Insurance Brokers' Association (Biba), has launched a scathing attack on the European Union's (EU) competition review.

Mr Galbraith described it as "ill conceived" and "poorly timed", especially when half of the countries in the EU were still lagging well behind.

He warned that brokers could incur further expenses and impositions on their time, and that Biba planned to make sure its voice was heard in both Whitehall and Brussels.
