For a market in which renewals all fall on the same date, it has been a busy year for solicitors' professional indemnity insurers. Liz Booth reports on their heavy burden
Solicitors have to have their insurance in place by 1 October each year to continue operating within the terms of the Law Society. This autumns renewals should prove interesting as since December last year an increasing number of solicitors have been caught up in claims relating to The Accident Group (TAG).
Originally priced at around £70m, these claims have risen to £113m with fears that the final figure may be higher still. There are also fears that further claims will be made against similar
