There was boisterous behaviour in Portugal, where Sirius entertained brokers and press in a luxury hotel. At 2am, a certain chairman of a Cheshire-based broker beginning with the letter 'B' launched an attack on Professional Broking's own intrepid reporter ... albeit with a cushion. Unfortunately, the fight was called to a halt before a victor emerged by killjoys concerned about damage to hotel property.

The football season has started with a bang, with the highlight so far being Manchester United's clash against Celtic, however, rumours journalists in Portugal were stuck indoors on a summer's day watching the Arsenal versus Manchester United match are totally true!

Accusations have come to Overheard's attention that Footman James boss Paul Matthews was seen behaving in an unmanly manner at the Broker Awards of sister title Insurance Age. After winning Personal Lines Team of the Year, Matthews was seen blubbing by several shocked onlookers. PB suspects the left-field marketing genius of another PR stunt.
