My boys have to learn the offside rule this year. This season the team is progressing from playing mini soccer (seven a-side) to 11 a-side football, carrying England's future hopes and dreams with them.

As the manager of an under 11 team in my spare time I like to think I see talent at the sharp end - where it all begins, writes Ross Macpherson, director at loss adjuster QuestGates. We all know that England has struggled with germinating and nurturing new talent over the years; for sometime now our children haven't been taught the fundamental basics of grass roots football, such as the importance of team work, commitment, hard work, perseverance, self motivation and of course skills development
