The Financial Services Authority's u-turn over its decision to regulate the sale of travel insurance via travel agents has delighted brokers, who feel they might benefit from more business being channelled their way.

The surprise decision was unveiled by former economic secretary to the treasury Ed Balls, who announced that, following a further period of consultation, all travel insurance policies sold in the UK will be conducted through FSA-regulated companies from January 2009.
