Intermediary-only insurer MMA claims to have had the most successful trading year in its history after nearly doubling its operating profit in 2003.

Profits of £13.7m were recorded, compared to £7.3 million in 2002, while gross written premiums rose by 6.4% to £203m. It recorded strong growth of 16.2% GWP for household with commercial property and packages up 10.3% and an overall combined operating ratio of 99.7%

MMA claimed its results signal a clear commitment to, and continued support of the UK
