Allianz Cornhill is planning to drastically reduce its number of surveyors in favour of risk inspectors for the smaller end of small to medium-sized enterprises.

The move, it is claimed, will enable brokers to retain smaller SME clients as it is uneconomic for brokers to risk manage clients of this size themselves.

AC, which currently has 65 surveyors and only four risk inspectors, will, according to commercial manager Chris Hanks, be restructured to 40 surveyors and 20 risk inspectors with five
