Severe weather leads to spike in motor claims
A fortnight of severe weather has led to motor claims totalling at least £35m, according to AA Insurance.
The broker said that in the two weeks following 28 June 2012, an estimated 14,000 cars were severely damaged or written off by the weather, which included flooding and hailstorms.
The company’s own claims staff dealt with over 400 claims for cars damaged by hail or flooding.
Simon Douglas, director of the AA, explained: “Scaled up nationally, this equates to over 14,000 cars damaged by the weather in less than two weeks, to the tune of at least £35m.
