Aviva to shut all Irish branches
Aviva Insurance is to close all 26 branches in its Irish network by June 2012 with the loss of up to 1,250 jobs.
According to reports, the insurer's strategy will mean moving all business to online and broker sales. The insurer will move human resources, information technology and finance functions to the UK, with Irish business served by the UK using 'adapted' UK products.
The news follows Aviva's announcement in October that nearly 1,000 jobs would be lost as part of a process to combine sales in the UK and Ireland
Separately, Aviva has confirmed that its chief executive officer in Ireland, Dermot Browne
