Fledgling underwriter expands commercial lines with D&O move

Manchester Underwriting Management (MUM) has unveiled plans to move into the directors' and officers' (D&O) market.

Charles Manchester, chief executive of the broker-only managing general agent (MGA), which launched earlier this year with a professional indemnity (PI) offering, said he hoped the product would be available by the end of the year.

It came as the company announced the appointment of Richard Webb as a director of the business, a role that has been created as part of the company's plan for commercial lines expansion.

ALA expands range with pothole insurance

Yorkshire-based GAP insurance provider ALA Insurance has expanded its product offering with the launch of a specialist pothole insurance policy, in a move it claimed targets one of the “more persistent and costly problems facing UK motorists”.
