Welsh broker Moorhouse is aiming to boost growth next year by offshoring an initial 100 jobs to India.

An additional 80 UK jobs will be created as part of the effort, which is expected to generate an additional £18m of new commercial and liability business in 2005, doubling its current gross written premium to £36m.

Moorhouse plans to offshore 500 jobs over the next three years.

Initially the preserve of insurers, the controversial offshoring trend is likely to be taken up increasingly by brokers
