Reading-based insurer MMA, which has an agency base of 3200 intermediaries, had a 20% growth in household insurance last year and a 27% increase in commercial business such as property owners, motor trade and small contractors. MMA predicted that these lines will continue to grow at a rate of over 10% in 2007. The boost to its portfolio marks a successful strategy of diversifying away from its traditional motor base which accounted for around 90% of the French-owned insurer's business in 2001
