Biba CEO calls for IPT freeze commitment in the wake of 2026 Budget

Graeme Trudgill_Biba

The British Insurance Brokers’ Association has welcomed the Chancellor’s decision not to change the insurance premium tax rate in today’s Budget.

However, the trade body’s CEO, Graeme Trudgill, pictured, called on John Healey to go further with a commitment to a freeze.

He added: “Today the Chancellor has not mentioned that IPT will be changed which will be a relief to households and businesses already under pressure.

“But at 12p in every pound of premium it remains a tax on protection, and we want the Chancellor to commit to freezing it for this Parliament and subsequently reduce it, so that cover stays affordable in every postcode.”
