Broker-only insurer MMA Insurance has recorded the best profits in its history, which it claims reflects the success of its distribution strategy and a strong focus on electronic trading.

Gross written premiums rose by 15.7% to £209m. In line with its strategy to be less reliant on motor, the insurer recorded a 32.3% increase in income from household business. MMA, which now claims to have over one million policyholders, achieved an overall profit of £21.6m.
