The retail sector has expanded massively in recent years, with most commercial insurers trying to get in on the act. Shona Cronin reports.

The increase in out-of-town shopping malls and similarly the growth
of specialist shops in the town has provided a massive boost for the
retail insurance market. According to Bob Carmichael of Link Insurance:
"There is a headlong rush to acquire retail business at the moment."
However, insurers and brokers alike are actively competing for a market
which is soft and fundamentally price-driven. Estimates suggest that there
