Brokers welcome sale to Highbridge and believe deal will see network regain freedom.

Brokers have welcomed Towergate's sale of the organisation hailing it as a return to independence.

Former Broker Network chief, Nick Houghton - now at JM Glendinning - said the deal was good news for the network because "networks need to have independence running through their veins and I think, while they can work in a big corporate environment, there is a risk that the proposition is compromised".

Towergate sold a majority stake in the network to Highbridge for £46m plus 19.9% of shares.
