Allianz UK Q1 2015 profit rises by £5m to £30m

Insurer's GWP increases by 5% to £555m for first three months of the year.

Allianz UK has posted an operating profit before tax of £30m for this year's first quarter compared with £25m for the same period in 2014.

The insurer recorded gross written premium (GWP) of £555m for the first three months of 2015 which was up 5% from £528m a year ago.

The company's combined ratio (COR) of 97.7% for the period also showed an improvement (Q1 2014: 99.8%).

Allianz's performance across its commercial and retail divisions was a little more mixed.
