Hiscox kicks off football revenue protection cover

Footballers protection

Top Premier League clubs consulted for the past two years.

Hiscox and Avoca Elite Sports (AES) have unveiled a new product designed to protect football clubs if their top players suffer injury or illness.

The insurer claimed a market first with the cover, called MAXI, allowing clubs to protect themselves against the financial impact of losing key players, such as a drop in transfer value or reduced revenue.

Hiscox said that existing insurance protection is restricted to covering the wage costs of a long-term injured player or if one is forced to retire
