UK General strikes commercial capacity deal with QBE

Specialist insurer UK General Insurance has struck a new capacity agreement with QBE.

The Leeds-based wholesale broker said QBE had been appointed sole carrier for its commercial insurance programme, as well as the large part of Rural Insurance's portfolio.

UK General group chief executive, Peter Hubbard, who confirmed that the underwriting agreement will come into effect on 1 January 2013, said: "This agreement, which will last at least until January 2016, marks a significant step forward in our overall strategy to grow the business and reinforce our leading position as the UK's
