Giles Insurance Brokers has settled out of court to end a restrictive covenant dispute with four former employees.

Andrew Watson, former head of trading, Alyson Rossi, David Smith and Elaine Haney all left Giles’ Glasgow operation in 2009 and set up the Glasgow branch of Perth-based broker, George Stubbs.

Giles accused the four of breaching the terms laid out in the respective restrictive covenants and took the case to court.

On the settlement, Sarah Lyons, group MD at Giles, said: "We have reached a mutually acceptable solution, the terms of which, including payment of a significant sum, are confidential.
