Northern Ireland broker wins company of the year award

Hughes Insurance has won the ‘Company of the Year’ award at the 2011 Ulster Television Business Eye Awards.

The independent broker, which has 12 branches across Northern Ireland, beat competitors such as SHS Group, Norbrook Laboratories and the Henderson Group to the prize.

Hughes recently invested £2m in its infrastructure, doubling the size of its headquarters in Newtonards, and has recruited 38 new staff this year.

ALA expands range with pothole insurance

Yorkshire-based GAP insurance provider ALA Insurance has expanded its product offering with the launch of a specialist pothole insurance policy, in a move it claimed targets one of the “more persistent and costly problems facing UK motorists”.
