Biba to issue brand guidance after old name is hijacked online
The British Insurance Brokers Association (Biba) has warned members of the threat of online brand hijacking after taking legal action to protect its own name.
The trade body discovered that one of its old domain names, The British Insurance and Investment Brokers Association (Biiba), was being used by another company that had set up a site using "very similar wording and branding" as Biba's current website.
After failing to resolve the issue with the firm or the hosting company, a spokeswoman from Biba said the trade body sought legal advice and contacted Nominet, a regulatory body that maintains the register of .uk domain names and runs a dispute
