Referral fee income to stay

Legal experts have predicted that referral fees in personal injury cases will continue to exist in some form even if the Government decides to implement an outright ban on their use.

On the 15 November Justice Secretary, Kenneth Clarke announced that the Government was to consult on the implementation Lord Justice Jackson's primary recommendations as detailed in its consultation papers, Proposals for Reform of Civil Litigation Funding and Costs in England and Wales, and Proposals for the Reform of Legal Aid in England and Wales.

Legal firm Browne Jacobson has claimed the move is the clearest indication yet of the Government's aim to implement Jackson's key proposals, which
