Polly loves a divisive figure and, quite frankly, the insurance industry could do with more of them. There is no denying that the now infamous Gio Compario is the aggregators' answer to Marmite and Polly was pleased to learn that the gregarious tenor had started blogging about one of his favourite pastimes: comparing things.

Recently, the moustachioed opera singer and a team of 'volunteers' from Gocompare set out to find Britain's best biscuit comparing 12 different brands of custard creams. The biscuits were put through their paces in all manner of rigorous tests, including 'dunkerbility', 'appearance' and the dreaded 'drop test'. The experiment resulted in a 2,500-word report - Gio really doesn't do things by halves. Polly has been tipped off that his attentions have now turned to comparing famous robots like

Broking profits fall at Saga

Underlying profit before tax in Saga’s insurance broking arm fell to £39.8m for the year ended 31 January 2024, compared with £71.5m in the previous period.
