Pure protection market could shrink due to RDR impact

Majority fear pure protection market will diminish if Retail Distribution Review is applied to the sector

The pure protection market in the UK could shrink if the Retail Distribution Review (RDR) is applied to the sector, according to senior insurance executives.

Almost two-thirds of the 40-strong audience at a recent Watson Wyatt debate were in favour of the motion that 'this house believes that reading the RDR across will reduce the size of the pure protection market', however some people were persuaded by the arguments put forward, changing their minds during the debate.
