Royal Sun & Alliance (RSA) released its three month results, showing a UK underwriting profit of £35m for the first quarter of 2006. This is up 6% on the previous year, despite net written premiums falling from £605m (2005 Q1: £653m). RSA also reported that its personal lines business improved from a combined operating ratio of 98.8% in 2005 to 94.4% in 2006. Commercial lines net premium dropped to £398m (2005 Q1: £444m), while in personal lines it remained stable at £207m (2005 Q1: £209m). The
