The Department for Transport (DfT) is moving towards creating a new offence aimed at removing the problem with the driving other cars (DOC) extension.
The new offence, which has come after consultation with the British Insurance Brokers' Association (Biba), would be: "to be the registered keeper of a vehicle the use of which is not insured in accordance with section 143 of the Road Traffic Act."
However the association has stated that in order for this new offence to work, insurers must help
