Results: the battle of the giants

The trading figures for 2010 have now been declared and overall the UK general insurance results for the top five were satisfactory. All the insurers were impacted by the freeze but some covered this out of reserves and others declared the full impact. Most declared large increases in private car rates but this has not transferred into similar revenue increases and it appears the majors are losing private car market share. Overall premiums across the big five rose by 3% and taking into account
