Despite seeing it as a major health threat, two-thirds of organisations in the UK have no plans in place to manage the risks associated with asbestos, according to the latest research from Zurich Risk Services. The deadline for compliance with the new duty to manage asbestos contained in the Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2002 is 21 May, but the survey showed only a 14% increase in awareness of the regulations, and a 14% increase in asbestos risk-management plans implemented this year.
