Commercial lines team of the year - The KGJ Insurance Services Group

In 2002 KGJ decided it wanted to compete on the same footing with the biggest players in broking - and it has managed to achieve its goal with admirable success, growing 600% during the past four years

In 2002, Black Country broker KGJ made a decision to move from what it considered to be the third division of the broking world to the premiership. Transforming itself from a predominantly personal lines specialist under fire from direct writers, KGJ turned its focus to business insurance, building on its expertise in high-risk liability and manufacturing trades.

By 2006 KGJ had grown by 600% to control almost £30m in premiums and is now one of the top 35 independent brokers
