Professional Broking was impressed with the comforts provided by Brit for its results' announcement. The designated room for the briefing in its hi-tech offices was complete with five senior directors, what seemed like a hundred flash computer screens, and a thousand page dossier for each journalist present.

Having schlepped up to Norwich to interview Norwich Union's new man in the hot seat Mark Hodges, PB regrets that it did not overhear he was only due to be in the managing director for its general insurance business for 5 minutes. In fact, Hodges spent just 11 months there before becoming the chief executive of NU life after his predecessor Gary Wither's decision to leave NU. Overheard assumes this must have happened very suddenly - with all changes due to take place by April 3.

A great time was had by everybody at Lloyd's wholesaler broker Holman's road-show at Kempton Park Racecourse, especially those lined up at the bar.

We were impressed by the vast number of entries to win our toaster competition. Thank you for entering and we will consider giving another toaster away soon - clearly something that is lacking across brokers' offices in the UK.
