Ken Carter, chairman of Jardine Lloyd Thompson, used the breakout
session An issue of trust? to speak up for brokers battling with the hard
market.


He said: "As insurance brokers, our role is to do our best for the client.
It is frustrating if someone agrees to quote and then, at the last minute,
says "sorry, we are moving out of that business". Brokers have to
remonstrate with senior managers - they are beginning to understand they
are shooting themselves in the foot."
