Alan and Thomas Insurance Brokers has launched a credit insurance division, protecting clients against the risk of customers or suppliers going bust. More than 15,000 companies went bust in the UK in 2002 and 3684 went under in the first quarter of 2003, putting thousands of companies at risk from bad debt. Joe Purver, who has previously worked at credit insurance specialists Euler Trade Indemnity, Bowring Marsh and Jardine Lloyd Thompson, heads up the division.

The Financial Conduct Authority grew group headcount from 5,379 to 5,510 its report and accounts for the year ended 31 March 2026 has revealed.
