Norwich Union will roll out highly accurate flood mapping technology this year, beginning with high-risk regions.

The insurer has built up a detailed flood map using a new 3D terrain map by US company Intermap Technologies. This map has been overlaid with NU's flood information and data from organisations such as the Environment Agency.

Using the map, NU can assess individual properties for flood risk based on cycles of 10, 25, 50, 100 and 1000 years.
