The Better Regulation Task Force has announced its first programme of studies for 2003/4. It will look at whether litigation is the most effective and efficient regulatory tool for settling claims. Its study will examine whether the risk of litigation promotes good practice and compliance with the law, the impact of the fear of litigation on businesses and individuals, the efficiency of the claims process, accessibility and likelihood of people abusing the system.
